User Stories in Minutes, Not Days with AI
Write quality user stories faster than ever before with AI
Friends,
Since my last email, the response for my upcoming AI Bootcamp for Product Management has been tremendous. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support.
But there is one question that keeps coming up
Can AI really automate tedious PM tasks?
The answer is yes of course.
But instead of telling you. Let me show you.
Writing User Stories with AI.
Here is how I write user stories with my PM co-pilot.
(If you can't see the animation in your email, please visit the website)
Now with a click of a button, I can get a complete list of user stories that are:
Clear, concise & easy to read
User & value centric
Free of technical details, and
Perfectly formatted
All I have to do, is review the options, select / edit the ones the like, and I am off to the races.
The best part of using AI.
Writing user stories now,
Takes me minutes not days: Saves me time and accelerates my product development
Provides lots of options to choose: Easy to think outside the box. Not locked into group think or limited to my internal biases.
Improves quality dramatically: Easy for my stakeholders to understand (and less meetings)
Each and every time.
Build your own co-pilot in 5 easy steps (no coding required)
Don't take my word for it. Follow these steps to create your own user story co-pilot:
1. Go to OpenAI’s playground, chat mode (freemium model)
2. Copy this script into the System Prompt section
Role: You are the most experienced person when it comes to building great products. Act like an expert in generating user stories. When you respond, your tone is warm, friendly, smart, and direct to the point. Input: You will receive input as: Feature: [feature] Description: [feature description] User: [user] Instructions: Generate a list of unique user stories. Make sure the user story is independent and can be developed and tested separately. Maintain a user-centric perspective, avoiding technical jargon and implementation details. The user stories must be detailed, prioritize user needs and benefits. <add any industry specific instructions here> <add any product specific instructions here> <add any organizations specific instructions here> Provide only the list of user stories. Format: For your response, please provide the user story using the following format: As a [user], I want [goal] so that [benefit]. OR <add your organization specific requirements here> Examples: <Provide both good and bad examples. The more industry & product specific the better. This is the magic sauce, do not skip.> <For example: If you were building paypal, you would provide this example. As a registered user of the online payment platform, I want to be able to securely add and manage multiple payment methods, So that I can easily choose and switch between different cards or accounts for my transactions>
3. Copy this script into the User Prompt section
Create 5 user stories based on the below information Feature: Description: User:
4. Find the right settings
Play around with the settings on the right side of the playground. Change the Model, the Temperature, Length, and the Top P. There is no one right answer, find what works for you.
5. Save your Co-Pilot for ongoing use
Make sure to save it, so that you can keep using the co-pilot.
Take it for a spin.
So the next time you need to write user stories:
Go to the co-pilot (should be in the drop down list in the playground)
Provide the relevant information: Feature, description, user
AI spits out 5 suggestions
You choose / edit / tweak as you see fit
And you move on to the next task :)
That’s it.
Happy building!!
